Overall Responsibility
Assists providers in the examination and treatment of patients following established standards and practices, as directed by the physician leader.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Greets patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner.
  • Triage patient to include recording all vitals, patient medical history, and recording accurately into the patients chart (EMR).
  • Maintains the medical records according to policy, copy and transfer records (when indicated). Ensures presence of medical record for following day appointment schedule.
  • Performs radiographic modalities, procedures, and applied principles of radiation protection.
  • Collects all necessary forms from patient regarding release for Xray to be performed.
  • Assist in training clinical staff on positioning and guidelines regarding radiation exposure.
  • Maintains clean and orderly office and waiting area.
  • Follow protocols which provide medical authority when such are indicated in providing care.
  • Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent and non-urgent presentation.
  • Select, order and perform tests and procedures to augment physical findings.
  • Define/document differential diagnoses and list differential diagnoses with most likely diagnoses included.
  • Write orders on physician order sheet for tests, procedures and the implementation and management of therapies in accordance with medical nursing protocols.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as deemed necessary and appropriate for plan of care, in collaboration with supervising physician.
  • Interpret data and diagnostic results for appropriate course of action including but not limited to blood gases, radiology, EKG, etc. in collaboration with supervising physician.
  • Notate findings and treatment course in patient chart including follow-up notes.
  • Maintain regular and sustained attendance.
  • Assist with patient registration, clinic patient call backs, and other duties as needed.


Skills and Attributes


      • Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology.
      • Ability to work all shifts including, day, night, and weekend hours as needed.
      • Ability to escort or transport patient by wheelchair or stretcher when appropriate.
      • Basic computer skills including familiarity with electronic medical records.
      • Types 25 words per minute with 96% accuracy.
      • Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.


Education/Experience:

      • High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of accredited program.
      • Current Rad Tech license in the State of Oklahoma required.
      • BLS required.
      • Experience preferred.
      • Good verbal and written communication skills required. Typing and basic computer skills preferred. Ability to organize/prioritize work, the ability to communicate effectively with                    patients and medical staff.
